Belated comment, but w/e.
So...I got the collector's edition... (Couldn't resist.)
Some additional stuff that the regular one doesn't have, but nothing over the top. In fact, I didn't really take a look at all the special features. (More like couldn't; I can only watch it when none of my family's at home - it's not exactly known that I have the movie in my possession, and I intend to keep it that way - or when they're all asleep. Also, sleep impedes and apathy prevents...)
Er...okay, so...yesh...now the comment on the movie itself...
It's nothing really intelligent or anything, though. And it's kind of long.
I saw it as a tragic story of love, lust, friendship, doomed marriages, and an unbreakable bond between two men that transcends the passing of time and age. Also, it was great M/M slash...homosexuality... @_@.
So...it literally is pretty tragic. In the end. Through the course of the entire movie. Knowing that homosexuality was taboo in society. The lives of the men, women. Economic, marital, societal, class problems. Jeez...it made me sad, basically, and the music (I didn't like the music) and beautiful cinematography didn't help.
Aside from that, I didn't really like the movie as a whole... It just wasn't my ideal type of movie. It was too subdued, little action if any, 'ehh' time period... Just, the atmosphere of the movie wasn't too my tastes. It was, in one word, boring.
But anyway...I really didn't focus on those aspects of the movie... It should be something shameful, but...I'm too shallow and obsessed :].
My attention was pretty much entirely on the homosexual interactions between Ennis and Jack :D. And, holy fuck, it was hot, hot, HOT.
It's really not every day that you see..watch actors (pretty well-known, too, in my book) - MALE, RUGGED, and HANDSOME - go at it with each other. I nearly died of intense giddiness at the first sex scene. Complete with grunting and panting and pushing...and...wait, I'm not really sure anymore... But whatever...@_@ (You can't really see anything, though, you know? A bit too dark, and artfully hidden...)
So, yeah...that, and the KISSING SCENE that I LOVE SO MUCH. Near the middle, I think, during that reunion after 4 (I think) years. Holy fuck that was the hottest kiss I've seen on screen. So much...power and desperation and lust and longing behind it...<333. Plus it's Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal doing it, so...yeah, duh. Was that scene the one where Jake said he almost broke his nose? I haven't done my research, sadly. But...yeah...*siiiiighh* The perfect sort of kiss between two men...
Aaaaaand I think I'm done with my comment.
I should rewatch it.
Whew...good night~
